Mailboxes, planters, fences—brighten each with Encore Azaleas in under two days.

Looking out on your home landscape, you might sigh and think, “How am I going to find the time to transform this whole space into the gardening oasis of my dreams?” Here’s our secret for getting it all done: Take one bite at a time. In other words, pick just one portion of your landscape and complete it in a weekend! Then move on to the next. Space by space, your ho-hum landscape will transform into your own personal oasis. Spruce up your mailbox garden, plant some lively patio pots, or brighten your fence line. You can do any of these projects in under two days. Need some inspiration? Check out our project ideas below!

Project 1: A Magnificent Mailbox Garden

Your postal personnel will appreciate the beauty you add to your streetside mailbox. Dressing up that dull post in the ground with season-long color is as easy as 1-2-3: An Encore® Azalea, complemented by a colorful evergreen shrub, and an ornamental grass. Plant an Autumn Bonfire® with intensely red semi-double blooms as a focal point in your mailbox garden. Its dwarf growth habit ensures your mailbox will remain easily visible. Pair with Fire Chief™ Arborvitae to create a color echo with textural interest. Complete the look of your mailbox garden with a backdrop of ornamental grass such as Platinum Beauty® Lomandra. The variegated feathery foliage will offer a dynamic contrast against the bolder blooms and deeper green leaves of Autumn Bonfire® and the unique orange-bronze hues of Fire Chief™.

Project 2: Lively Porch Planters

Share your flair with your neighbors by adding some pizzazz to your porch planters. Rather than one giant (and heavy) container planted with a combination of annuals, gather a collection of planters of different sizes, each featuring its own planting. Set off your container collection with the velvety true red blooms of Autumn Fire®. Add a cascading element with Pot of Gold Little Lucky™ Lantana in one or a few surrounding containers, depending on the desired space to fill. Place a Forever Goldy Arborvitae near the rear of this planting trio for a lush, vertical backdrop!

Project 3: Swing for the Fences

Is a boring fence the eyesore of your property? Transform your boundary into a vibrant feature by incorporating a set of stunning flower beds. The following “recipe” can be used just once or repeated up and down the fenceline as many times as you wish: Begin with one Autumn Empress, which will provide year-round lush foliage and medium pink, blooms for three seasons. Maturing to 4’ wide and 3’ tall, this royal beauty will gracefully fill the empty space along your fence with dense, deep green foliage. Frame Autumn Empress™with Platinum Beauty® Lomandra, one on each side. The flowy foliage will provide a white-and-olive complement to the azalea’s bright colors. Add three Purple Pixie® Dwarf Weeping Loropetalum along the front of the bed as a creeping evergreen groundcover. Addressing one lackluster space in the yard at a time is the easy way to the landscape you’re looking for. And you’ll still have time to relax at the end of the day and enjoy a job well done.
"Encore Azalea is one of my favorite shrubs in landscape design. I love that it is hardy, low maintenance and above all, you can have a multitude of colors to choose from. My clients love them too. You won’t be disappointed."
