It’s no coincidence that “the most wonderful time of the year” happens during the darkest and coldest days on the calendar. When we slide into December, that’s when we need twinkling lights, joyous colors, and festive sights the most.
Good news for you: A Douglas Fir or Blue Spruce isn’t the only evergreen that can be decked out to celebrate the season. Your potted Encore Azaleas can just as easily be adorned with winter holiday décor. We’ve designed three-holiday looks to inspire your own wintry creations. From simple to sassy, these décor ideas are sure to welcome your holiday guests to your own special kind of wonderful.
Design 1: Elegant Simplicity
Nothing says winter holidays like a simple red bow. Thankfully, there’s so much variety within this one category: Silk bows add shine, velveteen bows are more muted in their impact, large, small, long tails, large loops, and one or multiple bows on a single azalea. Encore’s medium- to dark-green leaves will allow that ribbon to pop with color on your porch.
Pro Tip! Add a cluster of small potted chartreuse-hued cypress mini Christmas trees around your Encore container to have the holiday vibe really hit home.
Design 2: Wintry Sophistication
In the same way, you’d uplevel a wreath by adding berries, bows, and bobbles, you can adorn your porch side Encore containers with wintery elements. Arrange a few birch logs at the pot’s base or beneath the shrub, layer in some fresh-cut conifer sprigs, and tie in a few pine cones. A string of white twinkle lights woven through the azalea will make the whole arrangement glow with holiday spirits.
Pro Tip! Remove any holiday bows and this’ll become a design that can last clearly through January!
Design 3: The Sass Factor
Have a little fun with the holidays and add in some over-the-top Christmas décor. Find some oversized plastic holiday ornaments and playful large candy canes and artfully arrange them at the base of your Encore Azalea pot. A heaping pile of large-bulbed colorful Christmas lights would really light up the night, too.
Pro Tip! Your imagination is the limit here, and if you can harken back to your more youthful Christmas fantasies, even better!
