When summer weather turns hot and sticky, what pieces do you pull from your wardrobe to feel cool and collected? Light-colored linens, of course. Just looking at their easy, breezy elegance is enough to give you some relief from oppressive heat and humidity.
Your gardens should be a place where you can feel cool and breezy too. Use that same light-colored technique to create a cool place of respite. A landscape with white flowers is the perfect way to make it happen! Feel a reprieve from hot weather’s worst with an array of
white-blooming Encore Azaleas. White and light-colored elements in a garden are a popular way method to create a modern minimalist mood, one that feels light and airy, and, as a result, a lot more cooling.
The Encore Azalea collection includes
four white-flowering varieties, each blooming multiple times throughout the season. Try one or several of the following to lighten up your landscape and create your own oasis:
Autumn Ivory is the most petite azalea of the white varieties, topping off at just 2.5-ft. tall and 3-ft. wide. It also has the smallest bloom of Encore Azalea’s white varieties, spanning just 2 inches across. But Ivory’s vast numbers of blooms more than make up for their diminutive size, flowering in masses in spring, summer, and fall. A bonus of its small size? You can use it in containers to brighten and lighten small gardens and patios. Hardy in Zones 7a-10b.

At just 3-ft. tall and wide,
Autumn Angel is somewhat larger than Autumn Ivory but no less appropriate in containers and landscape plantings. Each brilliant white bloom unfurls as a single flower and spanning 3 inches across. Glossy dark-green foliage makes those light-colored blooms appear to be even more cool and refreshing. Hardy in Zones 7a-10b.
Autumn Moonlight is the largest of Encore’s white azaleas, clocking in at 5 ft. tall and 4 ft. wide. This variety provides a bit of a twist on a typical bloom appearance with a slightly ruffled flower. These semi-double blooms make the flowers appear much more dramatic than their 2.5-in. diameter would otherwise. Autumn Moonlight is a quick-growing variety with plentiful light-green foliage. Hardy in Zones 7a-10b.

Speaking of twists,
Autumn Lily’s white blooms provide an occasional surprise of purple stripes within the 3-in. diameter flower. A dark green-leaved and robust plant with a habit of 4.5 ft. tall and 4 ft. wide, it is ideal for planting en masse and around homes. Autumn Lily is one of the
most cold-hardy of all Encore Azalea varieties, appropriate for Zones 6a-10b.
When it comes to creating a cooling environment, Encore’s reblooming azaleas give you plenty of ways to relax and unwind. Create your own oasis today!
